Ann Turkel, who was engaged to Richard Harris for eight years before he divorced her 20 years ago she is still struggling to come to terms with the loss of Richard Harris. Turkel has been raised in Manhattan and comes from an ethnically Jewish middle class family, was a student at the Neighborhood Playhouse and the American Musical and Dramatic Academy when she was 16. She credits the encouragement she received from her grandmother. Ann was an avid student of acting, voice, and dance in her early years. Ann aged 16 when she began studying in the Neighborhood Playhouse, the Musical Theatre Academy. She also trained with Sandy Meisner. Ann was part of her class in a group called a rock group and began singing. She also performed a season of summer stock theater at the Berkshire Playhouse in Stockbridge, Massachusetts with plays such as The Pajama Game" and West Side Story. While performing in her band for a fashion show when Ann was discovered to Gloria Schiff an editor at Vogue Magazine. Diana Vreeland, the editor in chief at Vogue Magazine, had Ann take her picture for her debut Vogue magazine cover in just two days. In the following weeks, Ann became one of the most desired models in the country gracing the covers of top fashion magazines like Vogue Bazaar and Cosmopolitan among many other magazines. After two years Ann hit the international markets performing well for a number of companies in Europe and Japan for the roles of face for major cosmetic brands like Max Factor Revlon and Chanel.
